Hello from Lybster!
Hi folks! I'll be sharing some photos and thoughts periodically throughout my time here in Lybster to both record what I do and show you a little about the great community and facilities here at Northlands Creative. A quick intro....my name is Rose, I graduated from the Australian National University with honours in 2016 and since then have had a studio at Canberra Glassworks. From there I make both exhibition and production works and I love working within that community of makers and thinkers! My website is rose-maryfaulkner.com if you'd like to see the type of work I make! My artist statement and a bit more about my winning piece 'Continuum' can be found in a previous post thanks to Wagga gallery. While I'm here I'll be taking two master classes - Silvia Levenson, Shifting Boundaries and Anne Petters, Hot Glass Printing: Frit de Verre.
BIG THANKS to Michael Scaronne and the team at Wagga Wagga National Art Glass Gallery and Friends of the Wagga Wagga Gallery for providing emerging artists with this opportunity. And thanks to both Wagga and the team at Northlands for getting me here so smoothly!
I've been here for two days now attending Northlands Creative 23rd Annual Forum - Glass Nexus. It was amazing to see people from all around the globe gather in this tiny village - the accents were vast and strong! We heard from notable speakers including Jeff Zimmer, Susie Silbert, Dr Jane Cook, Dr Karlyn Sutherland, Meng Du and Nadania Idriss - artists, curators, scientists, educators, all with ideas on ways to sustain practices, make glass accessible, foster collaborations and approach making.
